Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia (FMBA) is a federal executive institution held by the Ministry of Health. Its main functions are:
- control of the sanitation and epidemiological state of people having hazardous jobs and populations of certain areas;
- law enforcement, public services and management of state property in the sphere of health care of people having hazardous jobs and populations of certain areas.
FMBA is a successor of 3rd General Directorate of the Ministry of Health of USSR.
Since January, 1st, 2007, FMBA has been controlling the health care system of Dimitrovgrad. Medical assistance to the citizens of Dimitrovgrad is provided by clinical hospital No. 172 of FMBA (FSBHI CH No. 172 http://www.kb172.ru). Besides, FMBA is constructing Federal Hi-Tech Center of Nuclear Medicine, a part of Nuclear Innovation Cluster of Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region.
