Federal hi-tech medical radiology center in Dimitrovgrad received the first patients

On September 20, 2019, the Federal High-Tech Center for Medical Radiology of the FMBA of Russia opened the doors for the first patients.

He recalled that on September 13 of this year, Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Vladimir Uyba, at which the head of the FMBA reported on the completion of the construction of the Federal High-Tech Center for Medical Radiology in Dimitrovgrad and its opening soon.

Preliminary, eight people were selected according to a number of medical criteria for undergoing proton therapy according to clinical approbation protocols approved by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Treatment will be given to patients with primary and secondary malignant neoplasms of the liver, prostate cancer, eye melanoma, secondary brain cancer.

Note that clinical testing will be conducted in compliance with ethical principles, based on voluntary consent and current regulatory requirements. In the future, the proton center of the Center for Medical and Applied Medicine of the FMBA of Russia will receive 1200 patients annually, and the radiological unit - up to 20 thousand. The center project is the largest in Europe. This is a unique closed-loop complex, which presents all the currently available diagnostic and treatment methods used in nuclear medicine.

For reference: The creation of the Federal High-Tech Center for Medical Radiology of the FMBA of Russia is one of the main projects of the nuclear innovation cluster. The main task of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of the Federal Center for the Monitoring of Microbiology of FMBA of Russia is to provide high-tech medical care to the population of the Volga Federal District, other citizens of the Russian Federation in the areas of medical activity “Oncology”, “Endocrinology”, “Cardiology”, “Neurosurgery”. In addition, highly qualified personnel in medical radiology will be trained at the Center. Unlike other medical institutions that use separate technologies of nuclear medicine, the first in the country, a unique closed-loop complex is created in Dimitrovgrad, which presents all currently available diagnostic and treatment methods used in nuclear medicine. It will become the largest in Europe among specialized medical institutions.

The Center includes more than 20 buildings with a total area of about 110,000 square meters. The structure of the center includes: a consultative clinic for 480 visits per day, a PET center, a hospital for 312 beds, a radionuclide therapy building for 37 “active” beds, a radiological building, a proton center, a rehabilitation building, a specialized pharmacy, and auxiliary buildings.
