Today, a meeting of the Committee for Emergency Situations took place, at which the question was raised of allocating additional funds for measures aimed at countering the spread of new types of infectious diseases in the Ulyanovsk region.
The result of the commission's work was the decision to purchase a set of specialized laboratory equipment for the deployment of a clinical laboratory for the diagnosis of new types of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
The creation of the laboratory is planned on the basis of the scientific research center for fundamental and applied problems of bioecology and biotechnology of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "UlGPU named after IN Ulyanov ", which is a member of the nuclear innovation cluster.
The purchase of modern equipment will allow this laboratory to perform 800 tests per day, which will more than double the volume of research to identify coronavirus infection caused by 2019-nCoV, minimize diagnostic errors, avoid interruption of research, and ensure operational efficiency, including using the equipment in automatic mode at night. In the future, the equipment will make it possible to carry out a wide range of studies in the field of molecular genetic diagnostics for the region and provide the population with high-tech methods for detecting new types of infectious diseases.
