конференция по реакторному материаловедениюDimitrovgrad welcomed specialists of nearly all Russian organizations involved into the sphere of reactor research, technologies and materials. Throughout the whole history of the conferences, a record-breaking number of reports have been made – 178. All the reports may be grouped into three main themes:

  1. Fuel assemblies, fuel and absorber elements, zirconium materials for nuclear reactors.
  2. Construction materials for nuclear power plants.
  3. Equipment and methods for reactor testing and postirradiation examinations of materials and products. Radiation damage modeling.

On behalf of “Rosatom” State Corporation, Alexander Tuzov, Director Deputy of Innovation Management Dpt., greeted the participants: “It is hard to overestimate the role of reactor materials studies for the development of nuclear industry. Today, physics empowers us to create various nuclear reactors: on fast neutrons, with various heat-transfer agents, with close fuel cycle – all of them are cost-effective and safe. However, to turn dreams into reality, we need materials which can ensure efficient operation of new reactors – these are construction materials, fuel clads, as well as absorber and inhibiting materials. Development of new materials, technologies and ways of testing are very important tasks for advancing the nuclear industry.” On welcoming the conference participants, Sergey Pavlov, Head of ARRI, said: “It is a great honor for ARRI to host leading Russian material scientists for the 10th time at the conference. Reactor material studies have always been of high priority to us. We take pride in the fact that a majority of our research studies have found practical use in nuclear power and nuclear navy.” Vladimir Risovanny, research advisor of the Institute, mentioned how important it is for the academic community to hold such conferences: “In any sphere, not only in nuclear one, technological progress is determined by material progress. We realize that innovation nuclear reactors require absolutely new reactor materials. What of and how to make them is the task the material scientists are dealing with…”.
