January, 22nd, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, visited National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI where he found out about its prospects, some of its latest developments, and answered students’ numerous questions.
At entrance President was welcomed by S.V. Kirienko, Director General at SC Rosatom, D.V. Lifanov, Minister of education and science, Assistant to President A.A. Fursenko, and M.N. Strikhanov, President of NRNU MEPhI.
Mr. Strikhanov showed to President some of the benches telling facts about the history and current state of the university. In particular, he stated that MEPhI, along with just a few other Russian universities, is one of the top world institutions. He also informed about the process of realization of main programs, and about his plans to attract foreign scientists to give lectures at the university.
President of MEPhI reported about the execution of the teachers’ salaries increase task stated in May orders of Russian President. According to his words, by 2020 the salaries will be equal to the stated ones.
Then, Mr. Putin came to the bench with latest developments where young engineers showed the unique pillcam and the “Shield” cyber-protection system. “The White House started to use this device in as early as 2012”, noted one of the engineers. Afterwards, Mr. President headed to the Assembly hall to hold a meeting with the students.
Mr. Putin congratulated the audience on Student’s Day and wished the MEPhI students, as well as all of the Russian students, success in studies and in further employment.
